The Aesthetic Mind of Leena AlBakr

Oct 22, 2025

Former buyer turned creative consultant, Leena AlBakr has built her world around intuition, aesthetics, and purpose. She embodies a refined sense of harmony where discipline meets soul and creativity becomes ritual.

Her journey from Riyadh’s buying floors to shaping brands and visuals reflects a woman in constant evolution. Through her thoughtful approach to design, style, and self-expression, Leena reminds us that beauty is not just what we see it’s how we live, create, and become.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Perfect happiness feels like harmony between body, mind, and purpose. A healthy body, a calm nervous system, and the freedom to create every single day. Whether I’m drawing, draping, shaping a strategy, cooking, or curating a space, I feel most alive when I’m in that creative current. For me, happiness is flow, that quiet alignment where everything inside and outside moves in rhythm.

Which talent would you most like to have?

Every year I challenge myself to be a beginner at something new. This year, it’s drawing, sketching, and draping. Learning to translate the visions in my mind into tangible form. I’d love to reach the point where my hands speak fluently for my imagination, where what I feel internally takes shape effortlessly on paper, canvas, or a mannequin.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Ah, this one always hits deep. I’d choose to soften my perfectionism and to surrender to the beauty of becoming. I’m in a transitional space, learning to let creativity lead instead of control it. Perfectionism be a double edge sword sometimes and can silence intuition, and I’m slowly learning to let the process be imperfect.

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?

I’d love to come back as an apprentice at Azzedine Alaïa’s atelier. To witness his process - to "steal with the eyes," as the Italians say - would be a dream beyond words. There’s something sacred about observing someone create from instinct and devotion. I imagine it as learning through silence, reverence, and presence. It’s the kind of education no school could ever offer.

What is your most treasured possession?

It’s not an object but a ritual, my morning meditation. I’ve been practicing it daily for five years now, and it’s become my anchor. No matter where I am in the world, it’s the moment that returns me to myself, a quiet communion before the day begins. It reminds me that peace isn’t found, it’s cultivated.

What is your favorite song, book, and movie?

This is always the hardest question because my taste shifts with the seasons of my life. Some mornings begin with Fairouz, others with Frank Sinatra, and on certain days, only Bad Bunny can shake something awake in me. The same goes for books and films, I choose what mirrors the mood or moment I’m in. I see art as nourishment, and I reach for what my soul craves at that particular time.

What is your most marked characteristic?

My resilience and my devotion to living authentically, in excellence. I’m constantly refining myself: through discipline, through how I show up for the people I love, and through my creative work. I believe in challenging myself daily, not for perfection but for evolution.

What do you most value in your friends?

There’s a quote I love that says,

"You are a museum of everyone you have loved."

My friends are the architecture of my becoming, each one leaving an imprint of strength, laughter, and belief. I value their unconditional support, the way they mirror me back to myself when I forget who I am. There’s a rare kind of love in friendship that expects nothing but gives everything, I hold that close.

The three words that describe me best are…

Disciplined, intuitive, and a lover of all things beautiful. I’m driven by structure, but I move through life guided by feeling always seeking the balance between devotion and desire.

I feel most inspired when…

I’m in the act of creation, when an idea begins to take form through my hands. Whether it’s sketching, draping, styling, or shaping a new concept, that moment where vision meets reality feels like electricity.

It’s a quiet kind of magic that keeps me alive, there’s nothing like seeing your vision come to life.

The placeI would love to visit is…

Japan. I’m drawn to its harmony. The way beauty lives in restraint, silence, and detail. It feels like a place where discipline and soul coexist, much like how I aspire to live and create.

My favorite journey is…

The one I’m on right now, the becoming. It’s the journey of meeting the woman my younger self once dreamed of. Every season reveals a new layer, a new softness, a new strength. It’s not about arriving anywhere, it’s about remembering who I’ve always been.

My style icon is…

I don’t have one singular style icon. I’m endlessly inspired by women who dress from instinct, who wear what feels true rather than what’s trending. Style to me, is energy. It’s the quiet confidence of a woman who knows herself.

The best item in my wardrobe is…

A pair of wide leg black pants and a blazer. I feel most myself in that silhouette, there’s a timeless ease in tailoring that makes me feel most in my power.

The motto I live by is…

To live with intention, create with soul, and trust the timing of my life.
